4th and 5th Grade Choruses:
We have some wonderful repertoire selected for our winter and spring concerts! Every 4th and 5th grader gets music instruction twice a week! Once for general music (aka music appreciation) and once for chorus (vocal training). We have the opportunity to show off our performing skills at 2 in-school winter concerts and 1 evening concert at Seneca Middle School, and then 2 more in-school spring concerts and one more evening at Seneca!

OVERVIEW ON CREATING VIRTUAL PERFORMANCES:
During and following the Pandemic, we were faced with a unique opportunity to experience first hand, how our favorite artists record their videos as seen on YouTube, TV, and other media. platforms. It is more work than meets the eye, and those artists make it look so easy. But the truth of the matter is, producing a virtual performance requires approximately 1-2 hours per minute between learning and rehearsing the song, recording the audio only, mixing that down in special music production software (in this case Logic Pro X), then recording the video, and finally combining all video footage and the final audio recording in video production software (Final Cut Pro X).

SOLO AUDITIONS happen early on!
But WHY? (Seeking first to Understand...)
Once auditions are complete there is a series of events which occur:
1) Possible re-auditions if it's hard to choose.
2) Final Selections of soloists
3a) Submitting names to Mrs. Edwards the Secretary, so she can type the names into the program.
3b & 3c) Mrs. Edwards types and prints up the programs (about 500 in all).
4) Mrs. Kinney folds all the programs then...
5) Mrs. Kinney boxes the programs.
Delaying the process endangers the timely completion of the programs for the concert. If the copy machine breaks down, if there is an emergency in the building, or if someone in this chain of events stays home sick, it compromises the process and causes panic among the remaining participants. Especially Mrs. Degenhardt!
Once a solo is assigned to a student it is theirs. Period.
Thank yo u in advance for your understanding!
